The hierarchy of the penitentiary administration sector has been boosted with three new appointments.
Administrator General of Prisons (AGPs), NGOMBA NGAME Joseph Arnold, is the new Inspector General of Penitentiary Administration at the Ministry of Justice. AGPs FONGOH Divine TITAKUNA is the new Technical Adviser No. 3 of Minjustice, while Senior Administrator of Prisons, AYUK Bernard AGBOR, becomes the new Director of the National School of Penitentiary Administration – ENAP Buea.
Appointed by Decree No. 2023/238 of 4 May 2023, AGPs NGOMBA NGAME Joseph Arnold replaces Jean Michel WATCHUENG, retired. Prior to his elevation, AGPs NGOMBA was the Regional Delegate of Penitentiary Administration of the West region. When AGPs WATCHUENG retired after close to five years, AGPs MEDJO Freddy Armand assumed interim duties.
The former Regional Delegate of Penitentiary Administration of the East region, AGPs FONGOH Divine TITAKUNA, is now Technical Adviser No. 3 of the Ministry of Justice. He takes over from retired AGPs SONE NGOLE BOME, who had gone on retirement.
After close to five years as Director of ENAP Buea, and due retirement, AGPs NGANGNJOH MAMA LAMYA has been replaced by Senior Administrator of Prisons (APPs), AYUK Bernard AGBOR. Until his new duties, APPs AYUK was Superintendent in charge of the Bamenda Central Prison, cumulating the functions of Regional Delegate of Penitentiary Administration of the North West, following the ruthless assassination of AGPs KIGHA Theodore KUME by secessionist fighters on 12 April 2022.
More appointments are awaited as the North West, Adamawa, Centre and West regions are without Regional Delegates of Penitentiary Administration.
